Dusseldorf

So after wandering around all day in the heat in the old part of the city we went back to clean up and rest. We were both sleep deprived and exhausted. After a short rest and shower we headed right back to the Altstadt, Old Town, for another look around and a meal. We had Asian food, which makes no sense when you are in Germany, but that's what we wanted. Everything else seemed very heavy and the beer was flowing in the streets. Thousands of young people drinking beer by the gallon but well-behaved and no trouble. This is a university town right on the Rhine and there are students here from all over the world. Of course, there are many muslims with their burkas and hordes of children. Not so nice. Our room is great and the air conditioning is very strong, unusual for Europe. So far, we only got lost once on the public transportation but now we have the lay of the land. Tonight there were fireworks on the river and a big state fair. Pretty lights.
