Equinox 7
Cartegena, Spain
As the name implies, Cartagena dates from the time when Carthage was a major seafaring power. The Carthaginians and Romans originally settled here and vestiges of their settlements still exist. Today Cartagena is a well-to-do city with pedestrian streets, high-end shops, many cafes and restaurants. The people are happy and very friendly. We loved it. We walked practically the entire city and then decided to take a sightseeing bus. We walked down the pedestrian only streets and window shopped. We were very impressed with this city. It's nice to feel welcome and actually talk to people who are glad to meet you and have you in their country.
Upon returning to the ship we were treated to a Flamenco show. It was authentic and excellent. As the performers left the ship we all cheered and waved goodbye to the city. It was a wonderful place.
