Adriatic Sea to Ionian Sea

I am writing from the Adriatic Sea on the way to the Ionian Sea. The weather is warm, the seas are calm and all is well. Tomorrow at 6 am we will pass through a channel just one mile wide on our way to Corfu, Greece. Our day today in Dubrovnik was just glorious. Dubrovnik is a beautiful, clean and very friendly city. There are beautiful houses and villas perched on the hills overlooking the sea. The is an 800-year-old Old Town with a huge wall surrounding it. Inside the wall are beautiful old narrow streets, cafes, churches, boutiques and small stores selling locally made jewelry, artwork and handicrafts. We wandered around there for a while and decided to take a local boat to the seaside resort town of Cavitat about an hour away. The boat ride was great. The seas were a bit rough and we bounced along. The town was very inviting. It had everything a resort town has plus nice people, European charm and clean streets. We spent most of the day there. We had delicious iced coffee with ice cream at a cafĂ© overlooking the sea. It doesn’t get any better than that. We met four really nice Brits and exchanged email addresses with them. They were really down to earth and loads of fun. Jerry did not have such a good day, being seasick on both boat rides and turning a lovely shade of green. One of the English ladies took care of him because the rest of us were laughing too hard. We made it back to the ship in one piece and had a lovely sail away. Tomorrow I am getting up at 6 to see the narrow passage on the way to Corfu. It is between Albania and Corfu and as I said, it is only one mile wide so we can see two countries at the same time. We are planning a beach day after a morning of sightseeing. I hope the water isn’t freezing. We met the captain and all the officers tonight. They were very gracious. We will be taking a tour of the bridge within the next three days. I am exhausted so I will say goodnight from somewhere in the middle of the Adriatic Sea on the way to Corfu.
